WVU 2014 SEASON PREDICTIONS, SO LONG HOLG'S!

As the 2014, edition of the West Virginia Mountaineer's prepare to start the season, I see the hope's of the gold and blue faithful to be mostly futile. For some reason the local press have been touting the announcement a starting qauterback, Clint Trickett, as golden goose who will solve all of WVU's shortcomings from a season ago. Last season WV experienced their worst record since the first campaign of Rich Rodriguez's stint when the team went 3-8. Dana Holgrenson plummeted off the radar as a top head coach by posting a 4-8 record. The warning sign's that the WV program has been heading in the wrong direction have been everywhere since the dismissal of head coach Bill Stewart. Holgrenson inherited three future N.F.L starters in Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, and Stedman Bailey in his first season, WVU's last in the delapitated Big East, slipped into a BCS Orange bowl appearance and ran over a highly overrated Clemson team. In the programs Big 12 debut season, even with 3 superstars, he managed only a 6-6 record with a Pin Stripe bowl loss in Yankee stadium to send his senior triple threat's out in style!
So here's my problem with the local Morgantown press making a huge to-do about starting QB Clint Trickett, we had him last year! While the offense was less than stellar, offense has not been the achile's heel the last 2 seasons, it's been the defense's monumental collapse under the guidance of Joe Deforest. Even with the talent's of Geno Smith at the Helm, Holgrenson couldn't muster a win against OK despite putting up 49 points! The stark truth is WVU's defense woulda had a hard time stopping Morgantown High and Chazzy Thomas. So forgive me if I see no reason to think WV will do ANY better this season because the QB we had last year is the QB we have this year. The return of D- coordinator Tony Gibson is a step in the right direction, but Deforest remains with the team and in my opinion is a major liability. So without further ado here's my predictions  for the 2014 season.

4.Oklahoma-L
